Lovely Taormina

There are places you discover by coincidence and it’s love at first sight – just like Taormina. It wasn’t on our Sicily travel agenda, but since it was on the way to Mount Etna where we were heading next , Marcy said we had to stop by. And she was right!

This picturesque hilltop town is considered to be the most beautiful vacation spot in Italy. I have not seen enough of this country to be able to agree, but it’s definitely on top of the list. It’s a well kept medieval town, which used to be the capital of Byzantine Sicily in the 9th century. It’s definitely a destination worth staying a few days in. We had only four hours though. So what did we do?

Our first mission was definitely to find a lunch spot with great food and fantastic view. We walked in to the second restaurant on the way . Pizza, pasta, white wine, charming waiter with sleek hair … BINGO!

After lunch we strolled over to Piazza 9. Aprile and it’s surrounding little streets. There is a ton of tiny shops with original souvenirs, antiques, local delicatessen and luxury boutiques of Italian designers. We got absolutely drawn into the atmosphere of Taormina and we postponed the arrival to our next villa to enjoy it even more.

We didn’t really have an exact plan: we just walked around soaking in the vibe of the city, munching on “canolli”. For me personally is way more important to get into the city vibe first rather than rush into sight seeing. This town is a place, where anytime you come back you will always discover something new to see and experience.

Taormina is a favourite place of Italian as well as international celebrities. Even Dolce & Gabbana have chosen this charming location for one of their campaigns. No surprise!
My outfit was naturally inspired by the femininity of this brand, one of their skirts in particular: the “A” cut, floral print (except mine is from Zara 😀 ) Midi skirts are my uniform of this summer season. They are comfy just as sweatpants while offering maximum chicness.

The trip was short, but intense. To fall in love with a place means that every time you come back, you know that you will always discover something new to fall in love with.

Have a great weekend!

Love,
