Hello Sicily

Summer is by far the most favourite time of the year. I was born in August, so high temperatures have never been a problem for me.

Planning this year’s holiday was super easy. After my last year’s travel madness I have decided to go for only one trip this Summer. Italy has always been on top of my list (and not only because Italians are the most charming men on this continent). I have been to this fabulous country only twice and there is so much to discover! Our choice ended up being Sicily – not only because none of us has been there yet, but also we found super cheap tickets.

The initial plan was for Jozef and I to go alone. Later on our friends Marcy and Michal came along which obviously turned out to be the perfect plan. We didn’t really plan much and left everything for the last moment (which in the end worked out perfectly). It was a few days before the flight when we realised that we still didn’t have any accommodation, so went on airbnb.com and booked the first villa with a sea view that was less than hour away from the Catania airport.

We flew in, picked up our rental car and drove to the destination. The super nice hosts took us all the way home and explained us everything we needed to know. After a few bottles of wine we crushed and could not wait for the next day to jump in the water.

We woke up and the morning sun shining trough the blinds looked very promising. We rushed to the terrace and we were in shock! The view was absolutely amazing and as it wasn’t captured on the photos on the site, we were stunned.
Sunrise, sunset, turquoise pool and the sea … we immediately regretted we did not book it for longer and did not move from there the whole three days. The beach was accessible trough a long, rocky stairway and almost no one was there. Italian food, chilled wine, tanning, swimming and endless talks … that was the plan for the first few days.

Everything was perfect and we did not move from the house the whole time. The long awaited chill and peace after weeks of hard work felt like heaven. Day three came along and we started packing our bags. We booked the next villa – this time under the mountain Etna ..
But thats’s another story 🙂

What are your travel plans this Summer?

Love,
