When you hear kimono – you instantly think of a traditional Japanese garment with a busy pattern.
Two or three of years ago one would never think that this piece would become “the thing” and you could spot all the “it” girls wearing one.
Dressing a kimono is not that hard, but you should always keep several rules in mind. Kimono will always be the dominant piece of your outfit, so the rest should be very simple and basic. Statement jewellery is ok, but jeans (shorts) and a T-shirt is the right choice to pair it with. Winter brings warmer variations of this garment with thicker fabric and perhaps a bit of faux fur, just like mine. Pair it with statement booties and you are good to go!
This is actually my first kimono ever and hence the cold season I prefer a shorter version. I think it’s more suitable for Winter and more versatile, as it looks great with pants and a turtleneck as well as belted with a pencil skirt.
Hmm, maybe an inspiration for the next outfit? 😉
By the way, did you know that kimono means “thing to wear” in Japanese?
Have a great week!
Love,
