I don’t know how about you, but I’m not a big fan of massive NYE parties anymore. I much rather spend the evening at home either in a company of my friends or alone, sitting on my comfy sofa going over the past year and start planning my next one, while sipping on some quality bubbles. You could call it “resolutions”, but I feel a bit of pressure every time I use this word. I mush rather call it “plans” and this is what I plan for my 2020 to look like:
1. READ MORE BOOKS
A pretty common thing for some, for me something I have been neglecting for years and that I miss massively. Back in the days outside of this digital world I used to read a lot. There was no faceboor nor instagram and books were the only escape from reality. Now it’s the other way around and I feel the urge to change that in order for the digital part of my day to be equally balanced out. No to mention my vocabulary – It’s really lacking some refresh!
3. START SAVING MORE MONEY
I’m a boheme, I live a boheme life and I’m really not a money saver. I have been travelling and changing countries every couple of months since my teenage years and even though I have been settled here at home for the past 9 years, the boheme in me is still alive. Financial stability are not exactly words I’m friends with , I’m much more familiar with spending money on plane tickets or new camera lenses. The more I make the more I spend… But this year I really plan to make a change. I plan to save up some serious cash but still travel a lot….Will I make it? Who knows! But keeping fingers crossed.

3. EAT LESS MEAT
I saw this quote scrolling down my feed the other day: “Let’s stop pretend that eating meat isn’t killing our planet.” Seriously. The facts don’t lie a nor does the climate change. Meat-eating is one of the biggest environmental problems facing the Earth and globally, animal agriculture is responsible for more greenhouse gases than all the world’s transportation systems combined. There are tons of vegetation used to grow beef-kattle for meat and pork meat production is the no.1 cause of water pollution. I love eating meat and I’m not planning to convert to be a vegan (just yet..) BUT I have lowered my meat consumption last year by 50%. If I have done done so can you, or even by skipping meat just one day per week will help our planet enoremously!

4. WEAR MORE SLOW FASHION AND VINTAGE
Sustainable shopping is a term you have probably heard by now and it does not apply only to outfits. I have lowered my shopping by nearly 50% in 2019 which I consider a huge success. I have limited my fash fashion buys to a minimum, I am not to be able to give up the perfectly fitted jeans in Zara or Lindex, or super comfy basic Tees at COS or Gap. But something like perfectly fitted designer coat that will not fall apart after a second winter, or a vintage leather bag that will be with you for at least two more decades are definitely investments you wanna make not only for the sustainable part, but also to lower a garment waste polluting our planet. My plan for this year is to bring the levels of designer / vintage / fast fashion clothing in my closed into a balance in my closet and focus more on creating a capsule wardrobe (which means basic, but not boring!).

5- DON’T FORGET TO HAVE FUN ALONG THE WAY!
To have a job that you love means you don’t always realise how much you actually work. Your body feels it though and so does your brain and suddenly “turns itself off”. It has happened to me a several times and now I am more careful. My last goal for 2020 is to spend more time with my family and friends, without social networks – just real life quality time. Having a good drink and chat, take a fun trip or just chill in a great company is the key. Because without a proper balance all our plans go out the window. Don’t they?

Have you also set your resolutions for this year? I think it’s a great thing, but it’s important not to be super strict about them either. For me they are something like “guidelines” where I want my year to head to, but if something changes or I change direction, it’s fine. Life is unpredictable and who knows, maybe I will end up moving to another side of the world by the end of this year, taking all my savings with me, haha!
I hope you had a fabulous start of the year!
Love,
