Happy New Year

New Years Eve party is not really a big thing for me and I have been spending it on my sofa for the past few years. Not that I don’t have better plans, but after a decade of clubbing in high end clubs of south-east Asia you somehow fancy the sofa more. That doesn’t mean though that I don’t want to make a memorable ending to 2018! Something that when I look back after a couple of months I can say – this year has ended exactly the way I wanted. And thats when I came up with this New Years Eve shoot.

This whole idea was actually a complete coincidence. My original plan was to shoot one gown by a Slovak designer Fero Miklosko for an article about black tie dress code. The dress I wanted though was gone for some international Miss contest in Thailand, so we had to choose another styling – that ended up being more gipsy disco, rather than black tie-ish so I made a run to other Slovak designers and I’ve decided to actually shoot not one, but two fashion stories.

Our local designers don’t get as much exposure as they should have to my opinion, so this worked out quite well. You obviously won’t be able to wear these dresses tonight, but this is not the last New Years in history, not the last party of this millenium! And I hope you get inspired.

With this kind of shoot needs to come a fancy location which, in case you didn’t know, is a huge problem to find in Bratislava. I knew that Adam would not be up for shooting it without a fancy spot, and me probably neither.

One night after a concert I ended up by a complete coincidence in Michalska cocktail room and I knew that was it! The amazing interior of this “secret” bar with an entrance hidden in a closed was the prefect fit to the styling and I was super stoked that they let me shoot in there. Besides the fabulous decor they also have very well trained staff and the best cocktails in town (and you know that I can honestly judge that thanks to my past F&B experience in bars & clubs in Shanghai!)

So what about the NYE outfit? If you are going to a party, you can totally afford to go over the top – meaning glitter (lots of glitter!) bling bling, great cut dresses, crazy patterns and colors and event mixing it all up. No need to be afraid – when is the right time to do it, if not today??

PINK GLAM
This sophisticated silk dress by Michaela Luptakova was one that WOW-ed me the most. They are see-though with a velvet bodysuit underneath and a giant golden leather belt. They are sexy and elegant at the same time and you can even make them into a gown putting a skirt from the same material underneath.

GIPSY QUEEN by MIKLOSKO

This “crazy gipsy look” as we called it with Fero (the deisgner), might look like incompatible combo at first. “You must have it, you are the only one that can pull this off!” Oh boy, was he right. Give some silk and glitter and I’m all yours! What I also love abut this outfit is that has two parts, so you can wear it as separates all year round, day or night.

RED HOT BLING

This ultimate glitz dress is an absolute hit of this party season. Is there anything more suitable for NYE than a glitter dress?? The sleeves are a genius idea and the lenght of the dress is party perfect (although might be a little tricky after a few glasses / bottles of champagne, haha!) This does not need any jewellery – this dress is a jewel on it’s own.

Don’t forget that it doesn’t matter where you celebrate New Years Eve or what you are wearing tonight, what really matters is who you spend it with.

I wish you a fabulous start of 2019!!!

Love,
